| Yeah, we don't have a site yet, or anything 100% planned out, but we did put in a tentative time frame, March or April. So let's think up a name anyways and get our juices flowing.
What about....
*Siege of Barad'Dun*
*War of the Dead*
*Gotterdamerung* (German for the end of the world)
*War in the Desert*
*Rise of Sin*
Others....

It calls back to some of the history of the realm.

| BLM finally emailed me back. They have a special permit for "Recreational use" of BLM land. I explained what kind of event we want to have. Here is the link they sent me in response, explaining the special permit needed. The number to call, etc. The biggest thing, is it has to be sent in 6 months in advance. | The area I am interested in is called "Nellis Dunes". Its a large expanse of mostly sand dunes north of Nellis Air Force Base on Las Vegas Blvd. While coming home from Samhain I noticed there is also a large flat area. The dunes are mostly used by OHV's, but we could use the flat area, rent some Portapotties, etc. A superwalmart is down by the Air force base, on craig and las vegas blvd, and that's all the supply point we would really need.

| If we apply by the end of October, we can hold an event in April. We need to scout the area out, then figure draw a map showing our planned layout for the enent, and then print out or apply online.

| Here's a professional belly dancer for hire out of San Francisco. http://www.zari.tv/booking.htmlI am web hunting a Hindi (Indian/bollywood) dance group. Traditional Hindi dance troupes would be cool along with maybe an catered Indian feast. Ahhhh, Tandoori chicken... This link is for a Bellydancer in Seattle, but there are other's listed by photo lower down on the page and at least one from S. Cali. http://www.thebellydancer.mobi/nalini.htmHmmmm, what about that 'Bawdy juggler' from Renn faire??? Konradr | |

| I like *Siege of Barad'Dun* as well. I think we should check out the Nellis Dunes and see if its usable.

| Event in the desert on BLM land, indian food for the feast, belly dancers.......sounds suspiciously like the War of Reckoning Anywho, ours was held on BLM land so the regs will be the same (Federal Agency) and as long as you're not looking for "exclusive use", then you won't need to pay anything because they require soil tests, etc etc. All you should need to give is the GPS coordinates, the dates, proof of how you'll dispose of human waste / garbage and that you're not conducting commercial enterprise out there (DON'T tell them you collect an entrance fee or else they'll want tax/business paperwork too). If I recall correctly, less than 70 people means you don't have to provide special facilities for waste disposal (meaning folks can go out and bury their garbage / feces, etc). When you get more than that then you need to provide a means of disposal for the excrement because the disease factor rises. Two port-a-potties was more than enough (for their protocols) for our little event. In Utah we would have been allowed to collect all the human waste into doubled-up garbage bags (gross) and take them to the St. George City Waste Water Treatment Plant for free for disposal. That might be an option you could look into for cost saving measures. Some stores sell camping toilets with a roomy tent and awesome little bags that have odor-eating stuff in it and that are sealable that you could use to make collection less disgusting - again, IF that's the route you went. You would need to supply TP or baby wipes though. The port-a-potties though aren't horribly expensive and they're much more socially acceptable, I think (especially with women). I'm looking forward to attending! Oh, and re: the name - make it something catchy and funny that has to do with foam fighting, Vegas, gambling, acts/shows. | |

| If Indian food is being served, I would like to suggest the name "Curry & Scurry" for the feast, or whatever meal that may have Indian food. | |

| Yeah, I was thinking portapotties. Tiberius made me think. We don't want to sound like a knock off of War of Reckoning. Maybe instead of an Indian feast, we could do Hawaiian or Mexican??? Maybe instead of belly dancing we could get a celtic rock band or something, like what was at Renn faire. Wasn't one of them a local band? I was thinking if we named the event "The Siege of Barad'Dun". Then the first fight should be the Siege of Barad'Dun. All the incoming Realms vs us. We would set up like in the example below: You have a set of walls representing the city gates and the first line of defence. Then beyond that is the city represented by a grid of urban dwellings and roads. inflatable paintball type obstacles or cardboard structures could do for the urban grid. Then you have the bridge over the Orchasm. Of course anyone falling in to said chasm is dead. Then the tower walls and gate. We should put up some kind of archer tower(s) that allow the archers to shoot as far as the city gates. then last but not least, the tower citadel where the Flag of Barad'dun is kept. The object is for the invaders to capture the flag and take it back to their start line, or kill all the Barad'Dun defenders. Konradr | |

| As long as its not a res battle...I like it! You could even get away with not having the city grid. Just say the battle picks up after the enemy breeches the city gate. Call what you have as the city gate an outer gate and do away with the grid. It would save money.

| I really like your city idea. I'd suggest going nuts having a battering ram, foam doors , tons of rocks, and of course, archers. Could be like the siege of Minas Tirith To make it even more like that buy lots of those cheap foam planks and "reset" the battle every time the invaders reach the "end" so that it is like going through multiple gated areas within the city. Attackers do not resurrect (defenders do?) and then whoever is left actually fights to capture the citadel / flag. Ok, I'll stop cluttering your boards. If you couldn't tell, I'm really looking forward to your event. | |
