I put 2 layers of blue foam around the edge, so its now a 31" round shield. I strapped it in the 'Greek' manner. That is with a 'Porpax' (Center arm band, this one adjustable) and the handgrip towards the edge. (see pic). I put a layer of Valora on the front (Thanks Knubbs!).

For a cover, I decided to use my personal emblem rather than the unit emblem. My personal emblem is a Silver Wolf on a Red background. I'm still trying to decide how much detail to paint into the wolf. But I bought some wide red cloth from Joanne's, but still had to stitch an extra piece on. I bought 'Silver' cloth (the kind used for ironing boards) and cut out a wolf pattern then sewed that on. Phew! lot of work. Here are the pics:

Looks nice Konradr. Are the straps low enough to keep you shoulder protected without moving?

Yes, they are a little less than mid. Maybe not as low as those Amt type straps, but lower than mid. I can hold the shield in three positions for different coverages. With my arm parallel to the ground for good passive shoulder protection. Arm in a 45 degree angle (Like for Heaters and Kites) is more comfortable, a little less protection for shoulder, but not bad, and then arm straight down, not much protection for shoulder, but can foreshadow the legs really great.
