I made my last two arrows with the "modular arrowhead" that Kurn talked about. I found three images posted on dagorhir websites or on the forum. I have posted these images on my photobucket account for anyone interested in modular arrowheads.

This image is the most detailed.

I used the Arrow head kits from Edhellen armoury rather than the blue camp mat and green joan's foam listed in the image.

They work as well as my other, non-modular arrows. They, and them, are top heavy. Comparing mine with yours and Kilanos, my heads are bigger. I guess I used to much tape or didn't trim the foam enough or something. Kilanos loosed some of his arrows and they flew straight and fast. Then he loosed a couple of mine and they went straight a certain distance and then dipped and sometimes bounced in midair back up. Like a paintball!

I'll use a little less tape and shave the foam a little better next time I make arrows.

I was telling Oddvar that I found a forum topic with images on how to reclaim arrowheads and then make them into modular arrows. Basically one split with a razor down the foam of the arrowhead to the core. pull off arrowhead. insert 1/2 pvc, glue and retape and voila, modular arrowhead.

You might consider using PEX instead of PVC, it's a little thinner so you have less of the built up tape underneath the modular tube. The modular kit from bestdagstuff looks pretty sweet as well. I have just ordered the open cell face from him, not the kit, but it's the right stuff (don't use the JoAnn's stuff if you can help it).

I just bought more of the 1/2" pvc and yes it is PEX. It's thinner than the regular 1/2 " pvc. I'm going to use it to build and inner core on my Danish axe. It flex's, not quite 45 degree's but noticable. I wasn't very happy with it this last practice. Looks cool, not quite hitting right (or maybe it was just the user!)

Have you tried using fiberglass cores? They really are a lot better than PVC for weapons. If you'd like I could bring a couple 1/2" or 3/8" cores, cut to whatever length you'd like. They cost ~$2 each, just let me know ASAP and I'll bring them Saturday.

That's a great price Isk, I will have to set something up with you when we can make the trip up to St. George. I'm painfully broke at the moment. Spent the last of my allowance on a bowstring that was suppose to be here Wednesday and now may or may not be in on Friday.

Hey! I made that tutorial! Glad people are putting it to use!

If your arrows are flying strange like that, I'd suggest taking off the cloth cover, and trimming down the corners. Make the arrowhead rounded instead of squared. I was having the same problem with some of my square arrows until I trimmed them down.

Since you're using a 3" squared block of foam to begin with for open cell, you can trim the corners and still be legal.

BestDagStuff is a good alternative, as is the arrows offered by AxeandArrow (Stellaria and Jari). Nothing better than making your own arrows, though. Then you know how to fix them when they start to break down.

Also, yes, JoAnne's foam is not preferable. It can work, but there is FAR better quality foam out there. I just listed it since people are cheap, and it's the easiest to obtain for most people.
