| Okay, I know its age, and could be that I'm not pushing alot of weights around like I use to do at my former career. But quite a few practices lately, and especially today (11-21) I've come away with a specific muscle area in a lot of pain. I don't know the muscle area name, but here I've drawn it in a red circle on this image... I took off running for Romeo during the last CTF game and came up hurting in that area and was humbled by it. Pride keeps telling me to keep my mouth shut as I'm thinking this is the old man's curse, you know, where we get hernia's from trying to run around and play a young man's sport. Of course, I don't really see myself as an Old man, I just kid you guys about it. My question is does anyone know a specific excercise that would strengthen that area? It would help regain my running and might make the wife happy too later in the week. Konradr | |

| Thx Isk, yes, its the front and I have not done any crunches, and I have one of those Ab loungers from walmart in the backyard sitting idle (The seat that you do crunches with). I'll have to clean off the pidgeon poop and start using it.
I worked in a Casino coin room for 19 years and that was a workout til they went to mostly cash. We lifted like 25 lbs or more in a bag of coin, like 100 to 200 times in a shift. I was always bent over and working my triceps and abs doing those. Then we would push 55 gallon trash cans full of coin around. That worked those back muscles and legs. Not to mention carts full of coins we would push to the floor and buckets full that we would pick up from the slots. I was always aching, but I was in the best shape of my life.
I'm just lazy to excercise now and I'm paying for it.

| Eh it could be a hernia? =/ Does it hurt all the time or just after practice? Thats right in the zone where you'd get a hernia I think. | |

| I would also suggest stretching a little more before practice.>.> No one seems to do it much.
And it could be damaging to your muscles. Learned that one the hard way in dance.
And sometimes stretching just feels good. :]

| I had a stretching routine before fencing, but have gotten lazy. Maybe we should do a group stretch and just run everyone through some basic stretches. That way us lazy guys will do it.
I don't think it's a hernia. It has been hurting since I got popped in the gut with a spear and I think that was a month ago. But not real bad, just noticable when I walk and well, now after trying to sprint after my son. It hurts when I walk, not real bad though, just irritating, like a sore muscle.

| Hmmm definition of hernia:
A hernia occurs when part of an organ (usually the intestines) sticks through a weak point or tear in the thin muscular wall that holds the abdominal organs in place
It could be a sore muscle, or it could be that the spear caused a minor hernia... not to point out the worst case scenario, but if you can afford to I would have it checked into.
