Konradr just called me from work to post about food at events. As you all know your Saturday dinner is covered in your entry. however, you will need things for breakfast, lunch and Fridays dinner.

For those who have never been camping, you need to bring food that is eaten cold or something you can cook over the fire. Some ideas for this are hotdogs, hamburgers, tinfoil dinners(which is what we are doing). you will either need to find a stick to cook your hot dogs, a metal grate to put over the fire, or someway to just throw food right in the fire. Cooking baskets work too:D

Is anyone bringing this kind of equipment?

if all else you can pack sandwich things to eat durring your down time and to hold you off for the weekend. Another cheap way to feed yourself is to bring a pot, some gallons of water, and some ramen noodles. You can boil water over a fire real easy. Anything you can throw in a pot is a cheap meal. Any type of canned food is good for this.

Some people who have access to these metal grates who also have the money to spend often buy steak, sausage, or chicken to grill.

If anything, bring something to share. buy some snack food and give this to barter, people are always willing to share their food. There is no reason for anyone to go hungry.

Lets be honest, we will be so busy with the day and night events, you may forget to even eat:D

Shout out your equipment please!

Shout out if your one of those people who need the support!

I have a military backpack type stove that uses sterno or alcohol, I have 6 cans of Sterno.

I have a grill that use to have legs so you put it over a campfire, but the legs is gone, you could still prop it up with stones.

I have a small dainty charcoal tabletop grill that I will bring with some charcoal and lighter fluid. It's pretty small though. Wish I could find a nice hibachi, but money is way to thin right now.

Do we need fire logs?

I'm in a money crunch, but I'll get what I can at Costco/walmart if time permits.

I have like 4 old European mess tins. You can use the lid as a frying pan, you can boil water in the rest or hold food in it. We used them last time we went camping for Ramien noodles. Canned goods reheat real easy. Oh yeah, I Think I have metal skewers for hot dogs.

With a pot/tin you can make cowboy broth. Water, jerky, and a biscuit. Makes for an imitation stew.

If you go canned food, try the goolash. 1 can corn, 1 can beef & noodles in tomato sauce. Or try the tuna noodle. 1 can tuna, 1 can peas, 1 box crackers. Or cold beef stew, 1 can mixed veggies, jerky, 1 packet instant potatoes.

Keep in mind fresh fruit can be godly after a long hot day. Apples hold up well as do many citrus fruit. Dried fruit like raisins, bananas, and peaches are also wonderful and with a little water and bread they can be a good dessert.

For breakfast, I liked the instant oatmeal. 1 Cup, 2 packets, a handful of dried fruit and a cup of water.

Personally, I prefer tortillas to bread as it takes up less space.

If you want to eat like kings, I suggest prairie hens, a box of stuffing and an easy steamed veggie. All cooked in tin foil/tin cans. The hen is wrapped and left in coals for an hour or so, place water in two cans and make two bowls of tin foil. the stuffing into one, the veggies in the other. wrap and seal the veggies. Pore water into stuffing and let it rise. poke small holes in the veg wrapping and place over tin can. When done, serve on tortilla plate. In one hour of very little effort you will be eating like a king.
