Combatcon in las vegas june 24-26.

I checked my schedule and I will be able to attend. The volunteers that I have so far are; Heretic( no choice), Strider, myself, Taco,and Knubbs. This is still tenative and can change( except for myself and Heretic.) I will make an absolute final decision at May Althing. This is plenty of time to work on looking your best for this event. I have gotten ahold of some of the electronic gear but still need to work on getting more and I need to finish mine so I will not be able to make garb unless someone wants to organize a garb day then I will be able to help out.

Smithy, Convel and I would like to talk to you about CombatCon the next time we are at practice together, please? (It's a good thing, I promise )

I sent an email to edhellen/forged foam armoury and Axe and Arrow armoury to see if they want us to display any brochures/flyers for them at the demo.

Edhellen/forged foam has already replied and are offering a few swords for prizes if we want.

Still waiting to hear from Axe and Arrow.

After this weekend I'll start editing video in chunks and clips all the way up to two weeks before combatcon. I'll post the video clips on photobucket.

Maybe I'll do a mash up of some of the footage I have now, and get demie or templar in garb with his giant hammer and do a "Check us out at Combatcon in Las Vegas!"

Phox, if you could show Konradr or me what video material you plan to show at the con in the next couple of weeks I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's the Webpage from Combatacon about the highlander tourney they will be running and we will host for them. They says Combatcon and Dagorhir so we will be representing Dag as a whole. We need to do this right guys. Look good, fight good and be good teachers and heralds.

It says in the page 'protective equipment required'. Now since they don't specify, chances are no one will bring anything. Since there is no real protective equipment required in Dag, should be buy some and provide some in case participants want. For instance, a bunch of $5 knee pads, various sizes, since we will be fighting on concrete or tile or rug over concrete. What about strap on cups or Articulated, armor grade, leather thongs or something? Should we provide these things, not only for the highlanders but anyone wanting to try our fighting out? Probably a max of 4 on 4 at anytime in the demo area.

Also of note, there will be several armouries present as vendors, at least two of whom cater to both historical and SCA fighters. We will be the only Boffer group that I am aware of.

I've just recieved the vendor info via email from Bruce. Here it is. One immediate note is that vendor's will recieved two wristbands per booth space. We should get 6; however, each person that recieves a wristband has to sign an agreement, and must wear them at all times, if removed, you void the agreement, something like that. For those of you going and good with details please read this carefully and then lets discuss it:

Vendor Information – CombatCon 2011

Your Vendor Coordinator
That would be me – Bruce Sielaff. It is my job to look after you all from the time you load in, to the time that you leave the event, and make sure that your experience is as good as it can be. I will be in or near the vendor hall for the duration of the event, so if you have questions or concerns, I will be around. Vendor Admission - Wristbands
Admission and access to the event will be controlled via wristbands. All vendors are entitled to two wristbands per booth space. So a vendor with a double space is entitled to 4 wristbands. You will receive your wristbands from the vendor coordinator when you check in at the registration desk, when each wristband recipient has signed the terms of participation and liability waiver. Just to clarify – no one who has not personally signed the terms of participation and liability waiver will receive a wristband and be admitted to the event. The wristbands are void if removed, and thus non-transferable. If your wristband gets damaged or accidentally torn – see the vendor coordinator. The wristbands entitle you to the same privileges as other attendees, so feel free to take a class as you wish, but do make sure that your booth is manned during vendor hours.

Loading in
Vendor load in starts on Friday evening from 8:00pm-10:00pm. It will reopen Saturday morning at 6:00am. If you choose to start loading on Friday evening, we recommend general booth decorating, but overnight storage of products is at your own risk. The vendor hall will be locked overnight, but we cannot guarantee security.

Loading Dock
If you have large items or a lot of products, you may use the Tuscany’s loading dock and freight elevator. The loading dock can accommodate two vehicles at a time. However, there is only one freight elevator, and it's on the small side. The height is about 8' tall, but the elevator doors are not (maybe 7' tall). They are also wider than normal elevator doors, but smaller than standard freight elevator doors.

Vendors and the Casino
If you attend in costume, please be aware that no one must enter the casino portion of the Tuscany with a face mask or covering of any kind or a weapon (real or otherwise). Anyone violating this policy will be ejected from the Tuscany permanently (this is their security policy). However tempting it may be to play the slots as Boba Fett – just say no.

Vendor hours
Vendor hours are Saturday from 9:00am-9:30pm and Sunday from 9:00am-6:15pm. We ask you to kindly man your booth during that time. As much as we would love to help you out by watching you booth for bathroom and meal breaks, we simply don’t have the staff. We recommend making friends with your neighbors and make the necessary arrangements. Please note that the vendor hall will be locked overnight, but that there will not be overnight security (so goods left overnight in the vendor hall is at your own risk). If you need to make special arrangements regarding opening hours, please let the vendor coordinator know.

Sales Tax
Yes – everybody’s favorite topic, In Las Vegas, we as the convention organizer are responsible for collecting sales tax from you vendors, along with the requisite form, and passing that on to the Department of Revenue. The procedure goes something like this:
-Sales tax must be collected at the time of sale.
-Combat Con is responsible for handing out the one time sales tax form to each vendor when they get there. Each Vendor will need to fill out the business info on the sheet (three times on the form).
-Sales tax is noted on the form (but I believe it is 8.1% or .081)
-There will be a procedure for checking out with the vendor coordinator. You will have to show that your booth is clear, no damage was done to the property and give your sales tax form and payment to us.
-The form and payment MUST be given to Bruce. Don't mail it directly!
- Even if you don't make a sale, you must fill out the form noting zero sales and give it to us.
- Payments by check should be made out to the Dept of Taxation. Cash payments are acceptable (we will make out the check for you).
- If you have any questions, please contact your vendor coordinator.

Load Out
Vending hours end on Sunday evening at 6:15pm, when load out begins. At that time, please complete the tax form as described above. Then clear your booth space. The vendor coordinator will be on hand to collect your tax form and check that your space is clear and undamaged. We must be clear of the vendor hall by 10:00pm. If you need to make any special arrangements regarding load out, please let the vendor coordinator know.

Please Note: the booth spaces as well as all the equipment are rentals, and any damage to them will be charged and have to be paid by somebody. So please be careful with your tables, chairs, pipe and drape, surrounding carpet, etc. If you have questions about modifying your environment, please ask your vendor coordinator.

I won't be able to be an alternate this weekend for combatcon as I am supporting another tradeshow and have to be on call and able to leave whenever they call to run reports and remote in for assistance.

I will be able to attend practice as the park is close enough to my house I can leave on notice.
