We are camping from Friday, April 29th through Sunday, May 1st, 2011. With the volunteer work we're doing for the parks, the cost will be $10 per person for the event. That's ten bucks for fighting, camping and fun all weekend long. An optional Feast is also planned, with hearty foods on Saturday night and a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning - all for $5 a head for two meals.

The parking fees will depend on if you are staying overnight or not. Please carpool to save on parking space and cost. Parking will be $12 per car for Friday and another $12 for Saturday if your carload is staying overnight. Sunday is included for the overnight guests. If you are coming only during the day, parking is $6 per car each day. We have a combination lock at the gate, so we *ARE* able to let people in after sunset.

We have a TON of camping space and a large fighting field, plus some possibilities of shaded fighting areas. There is an onsite washroom with flush toilets and running water, but no showers and no power, so plan accordingly. Shopping is nearby offsite. And there is a playground right by our camping area, hiking trails, a stocked fishing lake so bring the family along for the fun. The park is in the foothills to the East (Northeast) of San Jose), so expect cool evenings and warm days, with chances of fog, hang gliders and wild turkeys (the noisy kind).

I agree... not to shabby when SHARED!!! Driving that alone would be painful! I wonder if I could get that weekend off....

I wanted to make this one, but not sure if it will be possible. Will have to wait and see as we get closer. Actually already got April 29th off from work, but issues may preclude me from going.

Glad to hear it guys - we really, really want you to come.

Definitely work on the carpooling to share gas costs and parking fees (darned budget cuts make the park guys charge a lot). If most of the folks thinking about it can make it up here, we're looking at 100-150 easily. And I know you Vegas guys will like the odd experience of camping on green grass and waking up to fog hanging low over the event.

Just a note for those thinking of flying in - San Jose Mineta Airport (SJC) is minutes from the site. Oakland (OAK) and San Francisco (SFO) are a BART ride away. Let us know if you plan to fly in and we will arrange to shuttle you from SJC or BART.

And as an extra incentive, I'll personally pay the event fees of the members of the chapter or realm who travel the furthest (that's event fee, you still gotta pay for parking). So make it a caravan - we'll have a blast!

We've even gotten two new local practices starting up off of folks who found us via facebook (both are existing groups of 10+ that had been doing this sort of thing on their own for 6 months to a year).

Preliminary weather reports are in and it will be gorgeous for Fool's Raid. High temps in the 70s to low 80s, lots of sun. The evenings will be cool, and maybe foggy in the mornings, so plan on layers, bring sunscreens and you'll be ready!

Of course for you folks in Barad'Dun this will be cool weather. And for anyone planning on going to Ragnarok, we're going to preview some of the Tuesday woods battle scenarios (with some trees, not real woods) that Aggelgorod is going to host.

What you don't realize is that I'm using you as a tool to recruit folks on many message boards. Soon you'll be famous and everyone will want to meet Knubbs and the folks from Barad'Dun who're getting free entrance to the event if you have the longest drive (parking costs are still your responsibility, so carpool to save $$$).
