I suck musically... but I think I just might try it.
Now, I need to figure out an appropriate instrument.

The lyre good sir.
I have been contemplating buying a Chinese hulusi flute from Ebay. It has drones and sounds a little like a bagpipe but plays like a flute.

That looks pretty kewl. I don't think I ever played a flute, but I should be able to pick it up. Thanks for the idea, Konradr.

Well, in my mind a bard needst to have some musical skill. It may be a stereotype, it may be inaccurate, but it is my personal opinion. It really comes down to a matter of presentation if nothing else.
Fortunately, skill can be taught. Because I am poor, it is equally encouraging that skill with a musical instrument can be self-taught. Well, self-taught assuming I can access the internet! ;-P

I'm open to anything really. I have a horn already, and the flute interests me. But, then, a banjo might work out, also.
Depending on the instrument, I could possibly design a foam weapon based on it's shape - which might be kinda kewl on the field.

Kewl. If you still know how to play, then I'll know who to go to if I have any difficulty. I have no idea, but I presume the various kinds of flutes and lutes, and such function more or less the same.
