Chapter synopsis and other various tid bits

Hail Fighters!

i just wanted to take a minute to talk about Barad'Dun to everyone. Nothing is final yet but i do have a vision and it should prove to be rewarding and fun. Barad'Dun is sindarin for Western Tower. sindarin is one of tolkiens elven languages from middle earth. now the overall game plan is to be a militaristic fighting force. we will not be a rabble band of barbarians. well you can be a barbarian but you will fight as a team. if this idea scares you don't worry it will still be fun. as far as the military end goes, there will be ranks. there will be certain criteria that must be met to achieve said ranks. accommodation's and other rewards will be implemented as well. also all will be expected to eventually have garb. this is really important everyone. if you have any questions regarding garb just make a post or e-mail me or k'urn. also a weapons building session is being planned so anyone who wants a weapon should definitely come! well you should come anyway so you learn how. i'll let everyone know though when its scheduled. Right now the chapter has 3 officers in this ranking order. Surt, K'urn, and Heretic. feel free to contact any of us if you have a question, or just post on the forum and get everyones input.

now i'm going to take the time to let you know the back story of our chapter. i'm a huge tolkien fan and i'm very knowledgeable about the history of middle earth. and if i don't know something its not hard for me to find the answer online. so i've researched this for many hours and i've figured out that below middle earth was another continent. the farthest south any map of middle earth goes is far harad and umbar. in the 2nd age numenoreans sailed every ocean and sea there little mariner hearts could find. its said they built small ports around the globe sort of as refueling stations. places where they could resupply. when numenor sank into the ocean thousands of refugees took to ships and sailed to middle earth. this is where i start making up our history. let's say many of those numenoreans took refuge at a supply port far south of umbar. and what if that small port being in such a prime trade location with untapped resources in the untamed wilderness of this unknown continent grew over the next several thousand years. as a stand alone nation. not of just humans, elves, or dwarves. but as a free city with a mixed population including all races. even orc kind. thats Barad'Dun, a free nation on the border of the most untamed and unknown regions of the world. its expanded on trade goods like nothing the world has ever seen. adventurers from across the land journey here to explore the unknown reaches of the blank section of the map. and thank your lucky stars because your here to defend her majesty!

i highly suggest you base your character around this setting. if you have any questions about middle earth just message me and i'll let you know anything you need. if you don't want to base your character out of middle earth that is fine. however you will not be implemented into the ranking system. i'm pretty sure the lore of middle earth can pretty much cover anything you want to do though. i mean there was even an asian culture in middle earth. so even that can be implemented. i promise to work hard to make your character fit in but not everything can. such as magic, balrogs, super sayians, jedi, blah, blah, blah.

however if i can't convince you to join the ranks then you will be classified as a mercenary and you are still very much part of the chapter. we're still a team. you just can't help make chapter decisions or rank up.

Asian really? Awesome cause i was freaking out, i was like HOW CAN I BE A NINJA IN MIDDLE EARTH?!?!!?!?!?!!!?!?!!??!?!!? Although technically the striders were just anti-terrorist assassins with ninjutsu like abilities.

we can come up with a more middle earthy type of ninja. it'll be fine.

sounds like there is a lot covered. I mean there are a couple roman groups in eastern US and there you are either roman or not. Sounds like we have a wide variety.

Are we going to try and theme our armor? color scheme? , etc. etc. etc.

A uniformity in design with whatever extras added on that makes you who you are.

yes there will be some uniformity. as of right now i don't want to say to much on that. but the idea is to look like a team but still let everybody be unique. i'm planning on having an officer meeting soon to finalize everything becuase i know your all waiting on the edges of your seats.

and yes a ninja would be more of a ranger. but not necesarrily like aragorn. if you want to be more oriental then you might want to consider easterlings, haradrim, people of khand. all their cultures are based on eastern influences. i'm also basing this off the books not the movies. even tho all the haradrim in the movie looked like ninjas to me.

easterlings however would be the closest thing to japan/china. strider y don't you send me a message detailing what you want your character to be all about/look like and i'll convert into into tolkiens world and we can see if u like it.

Most unfortunately...It may be awhile until I can attend a practice...considering I ALWAYS end up working on a saturday...
