Rolemodels, unrated....

OK, I get it, after sooooo many people have told me about Rolemodels, the last one being last night at work, the lady asked "is that the stuff you do?", so now I've finally rented it from Red Box and as soon as my breakfast is ready, I'm going to sit and watch it while foundling a few foam weapons in need of repair.

Movie tip: It was Edhellen that supplied the film with it's fighting equipment.

Role Models is what introduced Templar and I to this activity!

Of course, now we go back and watch it and point out all the inaccuracies.

But, gosh, I love that movie. =]

I actually liked it! Fun movie. Definately not quite what we do though. That is LARP, we are more of a martial art if anything. Not that some roleplay isn't involved, just not to that degree, and we don't have magic or snobbish, high and mighty kings, (at least not in this Realm, well, unless he's drunk)

Damn it. I'm going to have to buy that movie. My kids loved it too. But how did an 8 and 6 year old know what "Whispering eye" means???? Things that make you say Hmmmmmmmm???

Konradr, the term I prefer is martial sport. I tell people it's like Kendo, Olympic fencing or even Olympic Tae Kwon Do; you're there to score points in a sport base on a martial art, but it's not a martial art any more.

We had about 8 big college-age guys show up this week who had watched Role Models and wanted in. I told them I haven't seen the movie, but from what I know, this has all the sport of Role Models without the magic and the drama. They were stoked. We'll see if they stick, but right now they claim they'll form a spartan unit and hit the field in their leather thongs.

To each his own Sasquatch, if they want to do the "300" in leather thongs, by god, let them have at it. Armor grade leather thongs? Kill two birds with one stone or protect that one bird from stones, or something like that.

We need to play poker with our realm. Girls vs Guys. If the guys lose they all have to show up to Yestare in leather thongs ....(and nothing else *knows some wise ass would say they could wear clothes over it*)
