| There are always miscommunications from both ends, and I just wanted to make sure there weren't any on mine. I understand the concept of bringing it up next week, but I also understand how long a week is, and how easy it could be for someone to explain it to me. It just takes the right person that knows how to put it into words, rather than needing a sword to show me what they mean. And considering not everyone checks the board on a daily basis, waiting for said response on the board and asking the question on Saturday if I don't get a clear answer by then. Otherwise, I would rather not waste anyone's time. At the same time, I have a bad short term memory, and come up with questions on the fly. Trying to save them all for Saturday would result in me only asking a quarter of them, and completely forgetting the rest as I have already done so. | |

| Theres not much more to ask if you've gone out, fought, and gained battlefield experience, what more do you seek to know? That you dont already? | |

| I have been out, and I do have experience. Not very much, but some. At the same time, no amount of experience will answer questions having to do with the rules. Fighting against the newer fighters who don't take their hits (and failing to call 'light) or even the veterans who do, on occasion, disagree. The boards are one of the only places where everything said is out in the open for anyone to either agree with or deny, and in whatever way they see fit. Which is why I ask my questions here.
And what more do I seek to know? For starters, if you've been paying attention to even my very latest of posts, I want to know where the line between half-swording and anvilling exists. Aside from that, the questions I seek answers to pop in and out of my head in random intervals, with the forums being the most appropriate place to list them. It seems much more convenient than to write them down on a piece of paper, which isn't so public, only to risk losing it throughout the week.

| The whole point of the questions is so that I know what is right or wrong, so I know in advance. Not so I know WHEN I or my opponent messes up. What you're saying now contradicts what you said before. And I think it goes without saying if you don't know the answer to the question, don't answer the question :/ | |

| If you are unclear of the rules for fighting or other Dag rules, then maybe you should read them. If you have read them, then read them again... as stated in "Rule Zero" of the rules. If you are not sure where to find the rules, look HERE.If you then have further questions, we will help as we can. 4.10 - Miscellaneous: 4.10.1 - Whenever you strike an opponent from behind with a non-blue weapon, simultaneously call out the color of your weapon so that your opponent will know how to react. 4.10.2 - Strikes ignore sheathed weapons (i.e., one that is attached/hanging from one's belt or over one's back) or any other worn object, including baggy clothing such as cloaks. If an attack would have made legal contact with a fighter had the object been absent, then it should be counted as a hit. A weapon must be in a fighter's hand to intercept an attack. 4.10.3 - Anvilling, the act of laying one's weapon on a shield or body part to avoid taking damage, is not permitted.Half-swording, the act of placing one hand on the hilt of your sword and grab the back edge of your weapon with the other, has been permitted in many of the bigger Dagorhir events. Hope this helps. -Izmiranna Peregrine War Wolf Bow Sailor of Raven's Wind Barad'Dun Protector and Herald Viking Sea Sister | |

| In an effort to stave of miscommunication there is an alternative. Speaking to someone. Yes, waiting till Saturday, or Tuesday, or even Wednesday can be a stretch. But if you were to sak if you could call someone, it might be a faster, more effective way to relay information. Within good sense of course. If you have an idea at 3:00 am then you might want to post it. But if you wanted to ask a series of questions say, after dinner and homework then I believe someone in Barad'Dun would be happy to oblige. | |

| Alright, I come with a few more questions. First off, Donny and I are interested in joining the Royal Army, but we have little to no clue what they're about. I know they have a lot of sword-and-board tactics, and a lot of teamwork, but aside from that, we're clueless. Could someone explain (explain, not summarize) what the Royal Army is all about, and what they do, or link me to a topic that does?
Second, I like single blue. I love single blue. I love single 1v1 battles. It's when you throw something into my other hand and surround me by teammates and enemies on all sides that I start having less fun. Am I hopeless, or...? I've noticed Leon (or is it Leo?) going in single blue all the time, but I never actually see him fight. At the same time, he's ambidextrous, meaning if he loses his sword-arm, he has another. I don't have that luxury.
Third, what core best fits a single red, minimum weight?
Fourth, has ANYONE ever tried a double ended weapon? I really, really wanna try one out, but I've not seen one. If someone could bring one next Saturday for me to try out, I'd be grateful :D

| Actually, another question. I have my aunt making my garb, what should I tell her to do? Are there certain features I should ask her to add such as a cape or hood? This is going to become my winter garb, as it's just around the corner anyways. I want to stay away from fur, simply because...it's fur, and I don't like fur very much. Even if this is Medieval-wear. | |

Konradr My aunt knows enough about how to sew to get the thing going. It was more of an 'idea' factor that I was asking for help on. - Barrikaide wrote:

Has anyone ever made one? Does anyone have one? I really wanted to try one, good reputation or not.

| A couple of 'quarterstaffs' have been made in the Realm. Strider had one at one point. Vigo had one during Fool's raid. Here's a pic with him and it at the event that we hosted back in april '09. He didn't cover it with cloth but I think they let him use it. As for the question about garb. If you know about T-tunics then choose some cloth and make some. Voila, your basic set. Now worry about the fancy garb you want. Go to events, see what people are wearing. Look at pics of events, see what people are wearing. Watch Fantasy movies, look at fantasy paintings, then look at historical books like Osprey and check the cool historical garb. Then emulate... Konradr | |

Alas D: Anyways, I wanted to know what you guys measured the weight of your swords with. Will the average bathroom scale work? (Don't cut me if you realize I'm not joking, please)
