Hard hitting fighting.

Bel, with many who crossover. There is a lot of great talent in that video and they intentionally cut it to show the most aggressive hardest hitting stuff (hence some of the best fighters). I didn't see all the sluffed shots, although that seems to happen a lot with me. I think sometimes I look for the shield edge or the pommel that probably blocked the shot enough when some people just see the tabard move and think rhino. Could be I'm just blind though

The shots I were talking about were from a guy charging through and looked like he got hit in the back twice before finally being corned and dying. We have problems with that when guys charge through lines and get hit so many times before dying. We realize adrenaline means they may not feel the hits, but common sense says just die before taking too many steps. I wasn't really being critical, it happens, and I was pointing out that it happens even with the best. So people should stop bitching and get to fighting.

Yeah I watched the video again, I was kind of shocked because I thought this whole video was really chaotic... Then I started watching the background and realized they were probably staging these fights to be so hard hitting and fast paced, and its not how they do it on a regular basis (atleast not all of them).

And yeah I saw a guy on his knees get wrap shotted in the back twice, and shoulders and legs a few times before he finally stopped and dropped dead haha. Alot of people in the background are just standing around, or fighting more.. organized.

No, Phoxly, I don't think these were staged for the camera. This is really what happens, just spread across a whole day of fighting. They took lots of footage and cropped for the most aggressive, bashingest moments. Here is another, less cropped video of the same event:


Learning to take/feel hits is as much of a challenging part of this game as learning to hit properly, especially when facing multiple opponents swinging simultaneously. It takes time and practice to get good at feeling all of your shots when you are being overwhelmed. Especially in the situation Konradr identified as you try to break through a shield wall and are also slamming into shields and bodies that don't count as hits. This is one of a few times when heralds should be really aggressive, IMO. I think for most people in this game when 3-4 people are raining shots down on you, you make take 1-2 hits while you are still swinging before you realize you are dead.

In terms of technique, though, in Konradr's video PtQ provides an excellent example of how shield bashing a gimp is done at 1:26.

yeah its common to see people who charge a shield wall and die but keep going. if i saw them get hit 2 times or more on the back and they kept going and killed me i wouldn't take it. its to bad the damage is done though and the line has a hole in it. i say at the last second drop to the ground and grab there legs. then see how long it takes them to go down! haha

It's some good fighting though.

Sorry "staging" wasn't the word I meant lol I meant someone started filming, and they started fighting. I probably wouldn't go to an event if it was non stop chaos like that lol. The second video is easier to see whats going on.

Here we go again. Every trick O' foam fighting is in this wolfpack video (opener of 2010). Thereis shield bashing galore, shield checks of gimps, there is tackling(!) grappling, spearing, red swinging, fast flail's, florentino's and even a little ninja girl fighting her heart out.

There's a red wielding chick, there's an archer duel. Lots of shield checks/bashes, hard and fast sword action. One dude running all the way to one line to retrieve a weapon then rushing back only to get a javelin thrust into his back.

Okay, but there is a spearman on his knees and another dude is sitting against this spearman's back, pushing him forward, whats that all about!!!



This is in Indiana. Anyone want to make a roadtrip next year???

Here's a nice youtube video of some individual sparring before SKBC. I believe these to be amtgarder's but could be wrong. They are using the low strapped rounds and speed bats. But they are showing some great techniques.

No, not Amtgarders. These are a couple of guys from the Babylon bel realm in Oregon. The tall dude in brown is Bhakdar, who taught some of the bel related classes at SKBC. Very good fighters.
