| So, lately, I realize that I have a ton of free time.
I've decided to make use of it.
If you are willing to provide the materials to do so, I'll make garb for you. For free.
Tell me what you want, when you need it by, and bring me material.
I'm a costumer for theatre, so you can trust me. =]

| Oooh Girl, you just opened a can of ...... well I don't know but there's a whole lotta people needing garb and noone who knows how to sew. I just bought my son and his cousin some cloth to make baggy pants (plus thread, needles and scissors) and a pattern. If you want, I will send them yourway with their goods. Sure you want to make it for....(that ugly four letter word that we all love to hear, even Oddvar) FREE?
I have cloth to make a tunic but I want to try it myself, having made pants but not a tunic yet.

| *eyeshift*...As much as I love Isk, I like the words *free* and *in my state* quite a bit.
Are you capable of 'wrap pants' if I got you a link for the pattern? Hrm. Tunic, too.
I can't buy material until the end of this month, but then I'd like some help. Probably going to go to Micheal's for cloth. =P

| Or if you don't have money to donate, how about the medieval system of 'bartering' or a trade in equal goods. Ie; an apple pie, or a box of chocolates (After all, life is like a box of chocolates) for making my tunic, or I'll clean your garage, or wash your car, for a set of tunic and pants with read sash, etc, etc, etc.

| thats an incredibly generous and well needed thing you are doing for the group. i'd say definitely donate what you can to her because this stuff can take time. and don't swamp her with requests guys give her time. what a wonderful thing it is to fight alongside such admirable people willing to take their personal time away to better the chapter. everyone learn from her example. | |

| Wow. So many responses.
I'm glad so many people are considering my services. A link to a pattern would be helpful, but not necessary. If i can get a picture or a really clear description, I can make it without patterns.
And, if you feel you must do sometihng in return for making your garb, I could always use some help creating weapons. I have no clue where to start!
I'll start off taking requests Saturday at practice. That way, you don't need to go out of your way to bring me material or anything.
I'll also be glad to give my number for anyone who asks. =]
Oh, and by the way, Alvor. The walmart on either Fort apache, or Rainbow has cheap fabric. Michaels, the few that have fabric, tend to overcharge.

I'll check around there and I thought I'd go to Michaels because I was told it's a fabric store....I'm a bumpkin. I've never been in one. Go figure. Ha. I'll check about for fabric come the end of the month and then I'll give you links to the patterns. I can't find my cloth tape...are you willing to take measurements or shall I buy tape? =p p.s. ...Thanks for remembering my name. You're the only one. But I've changed it back since it seems it stuck with all of Barad'Dun and the guys from Utah.

| Yeah. Michaels actually doesn't have fabric very often. Walmart and Joanne's are the best. And.....Joannes is way out in the middle of nowhere.
And I'm fine with taking measurements. As long as you don't feel awkard about bust and inseam measurements.
Awe. I guess it would take a while for a name to stick. I'll remember to change it back to Alacian in my head.

| Every realm needs somebody who really understands a sewing machine, you guys make sure and keep Demie happy and appreciated. Demie, I have a bunch of different links to patterns and ideas for garb from the embarrassing, but passable for noobs, to the historically accurate listed on our equpiment page. Feel free to use any or all of that and shoot me a PM if you have any questions; I have made most of it at least once, much of it more than once. Alacian, go for the local seamstress option. Do consider ordering the fabrics we were looking at, though. Most local stores, especially Walmart, will only have polyester and cotton available. Don't make garb out of polyester if you can help it, especially for fighting in the heat. And the wrap pants pattern is available on our website, but I could give you or Demie some advice on tweaking it to fit slightly differently if you're interested. | |

| Ah. Thank you very much, Isk.
Your help and advice is very much appreciated.
And you're right.
Walmart should be close to last on the list. It has some decent stuff for if you're flat broke like I am, though.
Actually, what Templar did was go to the Salvation Army store, bought a bunch of oversized shirts, and is combining four or five of them to make something really cool. That way, he only spent like, six bucks and has the sleeves made. All he has to do is cut and restitch in the right places.
You have to find some really good quality stuff, though.

| Well thank you, Isk. I appreciate that. I didn't want to hurt your feelings. It's why I was hesitant. But local seamstress is always good. =P I definitely intend to order the fabric we were looking at when I can.
Demie - > I'm not an awkward sort of person. You can touch me anytime. Ha ha. Kidding. I've had people do measurements on me before.

| Haha. Okay, cool. I can't tell you how many times I've had to take an inseam measurement, to have someone respond along the lines of "You're gonna put that measuring tape, WHERE?!?" | |

| *snickers*..
I don't mind. Honest. I've had it done when making Halloween costumes several different times. The most I'd do is be a wise ass...."Ohhh, that's the spot! Do it again!"...lol ..
Anyway...*scoots off to get ready for Dag* Ha ha.
Oh and do you repair things since you can sew? *eyeshift*...Again a bumpkin....I'd pay you. I'll explain better at Dag. You better be there!

Got most of them. But not pming you yet. -- > Can you do bodices? Completely random question. Or have ever done them or think you could if you had a proper pattern? =P
Just random curiosity.

| I've never tried to make a bodice before, but I can probably gather some fabric and boning and experiment before I tell you that I can and you buy the stuff.
If not, I do know someone who can. She lives in Reno, so, it may take quite a while, but she'd probably do it for free as well if you sent her the materials.

| And thrift stores are amazing. I could have bought so many articles of clothing.
But I wouldn't know how to use all of them. That and....well.....I have no money.

| We have ethnic stores here in Las Vegas that may carry traditional clothes that are still medieval or renaissance styles. One of my doctor's, an Indian woman, was wearing a beautiful purple t style tunic (or tunica for a woman?) with embroidered neckhole, cuff's and hem. Indian, pakistani, middle eastern even asian's still wear traditional clothes such as Japanese kimono, Korean hanbok and those chinese jackets with the wooden toggles. Also some martial arts clothes are very traditional. Just thoughts. I saw a thrift store I want to check out some day. Charleston outlet on charleston just west of Bruce street. It has lots of clothes. Maybe we can do like Aggelgorod and buy those middle eastern looking robes for loaner garb.

| Sounds like good ideas. We should all take a look some time and see what we can come up with. Demie, how is the tunic coming along, and do you need anything? | |
