hmmm maybe you can try it our fellow smithy's of barad'dun..

so going to make those will make it more like high tops though. i'll probably make the fronts armor grade and the backs thinner or just lace up the backs

There is reason to have a stiff heel for footwear. The heel can slide or shift from one side to the other unless it has support. Using a thick leather around the heel (even on the inside) will minimize or negate sliding or shifting and allow for better footwork. I had to do this to Surt's calf high boots because of this exact issue.
