| Did you get some padding for your leg Hirgon? That's important.

| Padding for a leg? Now I'm curious.
Is this an injury that needs protection?

| He's under 16. His mom said she would come out to practice and watch whenever he is out fighting, but he has some kind of bone disorder with one of his legs and the mom asked we don't hit him too hard on that leg. However, since we can't guarantee that in a melee, etc, we suggested to him that he get football pads or something for the outside of that leg.

| Yes you can although it still only counts as a blue weapon. You will get more precision and power with your shots but you will trade speed and a greater range of defense for a more limited zone of defense. Full strap shield work also becomes less viable as well.
Your best bet is to get qualified with red weapons and then build or aquire a min red (around 49 inches).

"PD" is short for Plasti-Dip. It's a tool dip that people have been using as a medium for doing all sorts of different effects on their weapons and shields. Check out these galleries for some examples: ShieldsWeapons

| In a nutshell, you cover the shield in a skin of foam such as microcell. Carve out and/or build up areas using craft foam. Apply thin layers of PD until you have an even coating. Paint with acrylics and seal it. Here are a couple of really good tutorials on using it: Fitz's tutorialWynar's tutorial | |
