I have to admit, if we are to play BoH I prefer the standard version with the "weapon on shoulder freeze" and "count to regen where you are" rules. The trouble with running to the bucket is everyone will concentrate at the bucket. Best to regen where you died, IMHO.

By king regen battles I meant a scenario where there are two or more teams, each with a king. The king is immune to missiles and usually has an unbreakable shield. When a person dies they can run back to the king and they regen when he touches them. The king cannot heal, only resurrect. Obviously, if one team kills the opposing team's king while their king lives, the story is usually over very quickly. It's a fast, fun game focused on using your fighting skills, with a clear objective and no punishment for getting out there and going for it.

In past raids...

the battle game list started with a few ice breakers. A team game with the only objective to be the last team alive. After two or three rounds the raid battles were called. Usually realm battles. For the raid it would the host and their allies VS all incoming forces. (Fugl Brenna has hired me as a Merc already)

A quick water break and then it moved on to objective biased battles. Caravan, King, Warlord, Capture the flag, Bridge, Boat, Ring the Bell...

Tarmac... er, Tulga's favorite game has been done every year... Fox cross the river.

By 6 pm, everyone is pooped. Food is discussed, lodgings looked into, and the occasional sparing happens.

Also, I volunteer to help with WC. And I promise not to fail a 14 oz sword for weight this year What a Face (Last year I didn't see the sword I was weighing was also leaning on the stack of papers thus making it lighter than it was.)

I am also happy to help with weapons check (WC sounds too much like I'll be cleaning toilets) and I can bring the two templates we have and my weapon and bow scale.

Thank you isk, yes bring your templates.

Like a few of you have pointed out, this event falls on Easter weekend. My wife just realized Sunday of the event is Easter. Sooo, I'm not sure how much fighting, if any I will be doing on Sunday. However, Saturday I will be there all day. I am trying to juggle Sunday with the family and at the park with you guys, so we'll have to wait and see. I do hope most of you will be able to fight on Sunday as long as our guest are still at large.

Yeah, my wife and extended family have all started discussing Easter plans and I may have to adjust. I believe our Legion will all be coming down on time for certain and they should have a template as well.

Quick jump back to the games. Due to the rising popularity (at least with our group) of "Idle Muses", I'd like to see if that game would support as large of a gathering as we're expecting. We could use one of the larger hills across the street maybe. I just think that would be a good fight. We could have a bigger outpost group even.

I think that would be good. The only problem is if we are actually going to fight at Desert Breeze due to the fact that April is dead middle of sports league action and they've researved so much of the park.

I think we should change the name to make it more 'adventurous' like "outpost 7" or "Quest for the gold of Outpost 7" or something like that. Then when we tell these guys what we're playing, the name alone will intrigue them.

Since Aggelgorod likes cavalry games, I have one based on Barad'Dun's history. I mentioned it to Surt once and he said it sounded good, but involves alot of movement on the knees. I'll PM you and see what you think and maybe we can try it next Saturday. trouble is people just don't like moving on their knees but it is neccessary for Cavalry/infantry battles.

It's good to create games base on the creations of members of our Realm and of our Realm's history. It would be cool for these guys to go back home and talk about it and next thing you know we travel to Aggelgorod later in the year and find them playing our game.

I'm speaking to my boss on my next work day and will see about reserving the two days of the event as my days off that week. I'll be able to come out on both and stay throughout both. My only Easter plans are the day before and revolve around the children I used to teach.

Alright guys, we need to look for a park. I just tried to researve a picnic area at Sunset park and they are all booked up for that weekend. (It's Easter) we should have done that months ago. Here are the researvable parks that are on the county webpage. I do not know if they are available or if they have enough space for fighting.

Paradise park I'm familiar with I'll have to take a look at it to see if the field is big enough, then call to see if its not researved already. Lone Mountain park and Mountain crest park, I'm not familiar with.

Floyd lamb state park is a nice park. The western half has a large open field, but I'm not sure if its researvable. It may be first come first serve and I believe its $5 or $6 per vehicle to get into the park.

Spring mountain state park also has a very large open field, actually one nice one in the picnic area and then a not so nice one that the black powder historical group uses for their annual rendezvous. I dont' know if they are researvable but its a nice little area. $5 or $6 per vehicle to get in just like Floyd lamb.

We need to check these parks out. If you have a vehicle, check out the large parks in your area, the picnic area's and report here so we can call and see if they are researvable.

Nothing available to reserve at Mountain crest or Lone mountain park. However, the lady at the mountain crest park said that in site A, part of which is researvable, they have an area that will take 100 people, is non researvable, is first come first serve, has a large open field, a hill, is next to the basketball court/vollyball courts. Can anyone check that out?

To use it we would have to have an advance party snag it on both days.

Same might go for Sunset non researvalbe area's. if we get there and snag some picnic tables next to a large open area.

The only thing that worries me about sunset park is that the park police are headquarted at sunset park and there is this clause in the use permit for the park
Quote :
Carrying, possessing, or discharging of any firearms, firecrackers, rockets, torpedoes, or
other fireworks, air guns, slingshots, boomerangs, or martial arts paraphernalia within
any County facility or park without written approval from the Director of Parks &
Recreation or designee.

Do our weapons & activities count as Martial Arts paraphernalia???

I called Paradise park, their Area A (gazebo, tables, grills) for 150 people limit is available. She said they have a large open field. The area is to the North of the Center. Have to go into the center t fill out paperwork to researve area. The park is off E. Tropicana just East of Eastern across from the Walmart there. I will drive by it on the way to work today and check the field. If it's large enough should I go try to make the researvation tomorrow or does someone have another area in mind???

i think lone mountain park could be a really good place it is really big and out of the way so ithink it will not be that crowded and even if it is it is big enough to move away form other ppl... but maybe clint can look at it and see if he could line out something for us

has anyone suggested Sunset park where they do renfair?

what about outskirt desert area's?

I mean I still think we should do it at DB there is plenty of area's we just need to contact the park people. There is the blank desert area of DB that doesnt get used ever except for huge events for parking.

let me see, i may be able to get more ideas.

The picnic area's at sunset are booked, but Sunset is a big park. If I remember correctly, that corner of Easter and Sunset is all open grass (next to the baseball fields) and there's parking. Maybe we could just set up there. Sure as hell will get exposure because everyone drives by that corner. We wouldn't have tables or a gazeebo or any of that, but lots of open grass. (I'll have to drive over there and take a look) and we'd need permission I think from the park director since we're a "Martial art" type thing.

Me, smithy and Surt are still pondering the idea of just keeping it at Desert Breeze since that is where most of you live, especially those who walk, roller skate, bike and thumb it to the park. If we have a team go there early and grab our favorite gazebo, we could make it work. Parking might be hell if there's alot of sports going on, but I still think we could make it work.

We'll let you all know Saturday what we've decided on.
