Just curious about leather armor smithing methods.

Whats the typical method? I remember in Shannara when Katie, Remmy, and this guy were making someone's armor (over a DnD session at the local campus) they made the armor first using flexible cardboard. Then after making the cardboard fit the person just right, they'd cut the leather using the cardboard as the layout.

Anyone else know/use this method?

I know there was more to the method, but that was basically how they did it, and it turned out good in the end I think.

And I use the Duct tape and an old shirt or sweat pants method.

sounds very creepy

but it makes the armor fit just right in all the right places.... yeah still sounds dirty, i tried not to smile.... proved impossible.
