Hey guys I posted a while ago about joining but had a suprise trip going out of town for 2 weeks but I'm back! So since saturday is so far away IK the royal army practice is on wensdays and I'm pretty much set on attempting to join them. My friend Kraiken is already in and hes the one who got my turned on to this whole thing and has described the people there as some really cool people so seems like a good choice to me. Anyway back on topic. I was wondering if for my first time out I could come wensday bring my waiver of course signed and get all of the introductions and what not. I'd understand if I needed to wait until saturday. Will have my guardian there as well. Many thanks for a reply Very Happy

I will be there wednesday - if you are thinking about joining the RA you are more than welcome at the practice!

All who are in or thinking about joining the RA, are welcome at wednesday practices, but definitely bring your waiver, and if you are the same age as Kraiken, you will probably have to bring a parent too so they can see exactly what they are letting you do. Its a thing we do with all under age players - then the parents are aware its on-par with football as far as contact and roughness goes, but that we are very safety conscious.

See you Wednesday!

Oh - and welcome to your first practice Very Happy

Hey Molds - Parents may be 100% ok with it, but for the waiver to be valid and our liabilities to be ok, we need the parent to be there on your first practice... As a minor, we are obligated to ensure the safety of you, and ensure your parents are fully aware of what you are taking part in. The only way we can ensure that is if they come and see what we do, and talk to the 'responsible grownups' (I put marks in - I have questions about some of the 'responsible' people Twisted Evil ) in person so we can satisfy both them and us that all parties are aware of the full contact nature of the sport.
Enough of the lecture - Hope to see you and a parental unit at practice tomorrow - I need sparring partners that dont scare me...! Neutral

Oh of course they need to be there. They want to go there the first day. I told them the whole deal and made it VERY clear that they had to be there the first day and are 100000000% okay with going out. Haha don't worry. You guys can beat on me as much as youd like.

MY parents are going to see me and my friend fight with our own swords. (16)
HIS parents are handicapped, and can't make it. (17)

Is it okay for our parents to not come, because they already know what we're getting ourselves into.

The waivers we have signed. Prysm Stormfallen just said we need our parents at the first practice, which I doubt either of ours will be excited about.

16 is the legal age for Dagorhir participation. If under the age of 18 you need your parents to sign their consent via notorizing the waiver.

I don't know if someone 16 or 17 absolutely needs their parents to come but it is preferred. One of the officiers would have to clafify that (That would be Heretic, Smithy or Demie) or someone who has clarified it with the officers.

As far as under the age of 16. Heretic, the leader of this realm has already stated the person's parents must come to the practice in order for that person to participate. That is an absolute.

From what I remember, if you were under eighteen,

it was either have the waiver notarized,

or, have the parents out to sign the waiver in front of realm officers.

Parents would not have to stay, though.

-hands stone tablet-

Sounds like the council should vote/decide on what the rule should be. Wink

I think the rule should be under 18, you need a parent's signature, under 16, you need a parent present. My parents KNOW how rough it is. I got hit in the face with a shield, and my jaw STILL hurts, and I can't wait to get back. Hopefully, not to get another head-check again, but still!

For the 2 or 3 current 15 year olds we have, we should let them have some leeway if we do enforce that rule. I know Hirgon's parents already grace us with their presence and watch him fight, but Turtle and Mathan/XIV don't usually have parents present.

Something to think about for our Shepherd, Marshal, and King. As they are all three in charge of practice going-ons.
