Tentative trip to ATD.

I have been thinking of paying another visit to An Tir Dearg, but on their normal practice day which is Wednesday evenings. An opportunity has come but I'm not sure if I can swing it. I would like to know if anyone else is interested in going along. I can fit 6 more people in my Van and if we all chip in, say $10 for gas the trip is definately doable if nothing at home doesn't upset the apple cart.

I am on vacation again this month on the 14, 15 and 16th. (monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). Fortune would have it that my kids don't have school on that Wednesday and I think are off thursday and friday too(is it winter break already?).

ATD start an early weapon training session at 6:30pm and then the main practice at 7pm, their time. (They are on mountain time so are an hour ahead of us) It's a night practice at their park we went to last time. The park has lights and they string up additional lighting.

It takes anywhere from 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours drive time to get to St. George from here. I figured if we met at Desert Breeze park (if neccessary) and then left at 3:00 pm we could be in St. George by 5pm (6pm St. George time). We could fight til around 10pm their time and then head home and would be here around 11pm our time.

Anyone interested???

I and my brother would need a ride, Konrad. I'd also have to see how my days off are and if the folks would mind.

Not to scare anyone off, but remember we will be in ATD. When in Rome, you must fight like the Romans. Some of their weapons do hit hard. allmost all of them wear mouthguards. One guy just lost a tooth from a jav to the face (legal distance) sooooo, mouthguards are only a few bucks at Walmart. You boil them, bite into them and they conform to your teeth, then drop them in cold water and its permanant (until you boil them again, so I guess they are not permanant.) You're teeth are suppose to be permanant too.

Anyhow, my point is, if you are prone to injury of any kind, pad up. We didn't have anyone hurt last time we went there, but I did get a fat lip from a jav hit in the mouth, but my teeth are still there. You can buy all kinds of soft padding for the body. Big 5 has hockey/lacross/football rib guards as well, if you are worried about those areas.

Sounds like we might be in Vegas by the 14th... but I certainly won't have any gas money, but I can fit 5 people in my blazer so if everyone chips in like $7-$8 I can bring people and weapons, but its not for sure yet. We'll see how its looking next week when we pack up the rest of our stuff.

If I go, I will be buying a mouth guard and something for my ribs. You guys already bruise around there. I know ATD does worse from firsthand experience. But it doesn't discourage me. I'd rather go than not.

Phoxly - If you're here, I'd ride with you just so you can make it with gas money, etc.

Also I have a bunch of MMA gear at our house, we have chest guards, two of them that usually go under clothing. Protects abs, kidneys, diaphram, and ribs a little.

Sounding good. I know if Strider drives, he needs a co-pilot with a driver's license for the trip back.

Really, they don't hit that hard, only their jav's and maybe their spear, oh and the big guys can wallop pretty good with their shields. But we can take it and we can dish it out too.

Well personally, Lego hits harder than any of their people. I know from when he crippled my leg.

If y'all can handle Barrikaide, you shouldn't be afraid of ATD's big boys. They're just gentle giants. Learn to knock 'em on their ass.

i would love to go, but money a problem for me right now... so i problem wont but turst me if i could i would! becuse you guys will need all the support you guys can get going into a foreign land!!

If we get enough vehicles and people chipping in for gas, I don't see why you can't hitch a ride Taco. We share what we can. You can't help with gas, but maybe you can bring some rice balls for chow and oh yeah, that experience thing of yours. Whap whap whap! Kill.

If they're settled in what they're doing ...and stuff since I'm not gonna share what it is. I'll chip in for Taco and Kitty to go whether I'm able to go or not.

And yes it is. But Isk highjacked our specialty and rubbed me into the ground when he was here....lol...just rubbed the wrong way and it felt like my rib cage was folding in on itself.

ATD does't stress garb for their practices, so sweats and another layer of sweats might do (remember it is at night and will probably be nippy. Maybe we can get a small portable heater or something.) but if we bring a camera along we should be garbed.

Yeah, I can bring my car and allow more people to come. But it would be nice to have someone to co-pilot so I can pass out if needed on the way back.

Looks like I will have the money for the trip so it should be on barring some unforseen happenstance. Romeo and probably Taylor will go with me so that leaves 4 seats available in my van. Strider says he'll drive and I believe he has 4 open seats available too. He needs a licensed co-pilot however for the trip back.

I'm going to notify ATD on their forums. So who definately wants to go?

I can co-pilot for Strider if I am able to get that day off, which shouldn't be a problem. I can also pitch in 10$ as well for gas and such.
I'd offer my car, but it's an old car and I sorta need to get some stuff fixed, like change the oil, redo my brakepads and such >_>

Yeah, I have 4 open seats. And just got my smog check and renewed it so I'm good to go.

Well, I'm glad you guys still want to come in spite of all our brutality.

Seriously, though, it will be awesome to see you guys and we will really be looking forward to having you show up.

Also, on a personal note, Taco should have a helmet finished for me. If somebody could please get it from him and bring it up with them, I will be very grateful.

Little clarification on the broken tooth mentioned above as well:
A javelin was thrown at the fighter, it struck his shield and the inside edge of his shield, which is padded, hit his tooth just right on the corner so that it cracked it deep and he had to get a root canal and the whole shebang. Our javelins are not popping people in the mouth and removing teeth.

I still strongly support Konradr's recommendation to wear a mouth guard. I was spitting blood during our last visit after a hard blow was delivered to the top of my head. I couldn't find my mouthguard that day and I obviously regretted it.

I saw these beanies on Ebay and though, hmmmm (me thinking) those would make good Realm headgear for our cold trip to St. George on Wednesday, maybe I could order all 10 and get rush delivery! What d'ya think. Mercenary Realm headgear!
