Every now and then, not too often, thank god, I get this lower back pain that lasts awhile. I don't know what I did, but about Tuesday, it started and is still going on.

My lower back is stiff when I walk, but it doesn't hurt til I bend over, well, actually, I can' t bend, I have to squat. It really hurts at work everytime I have to get in and out of my damn car. I'm a courier. I get in and out a hundred times a day.

When I lay down or sit, it doesn't hurt til I try to get up and the longer I lay down or sit, the more its stiff when I try to get up. I've been taking Really hot showers and baths to loosen the muscles, and Ibuprofen. It seems to help a little.

I was going to try and do some stretches to see if that loosens them up, but the stretching hurt so I stopped.

Yeah, I know Smithy, I'm just old as the bible. Me and my pals, the dinosaurs, had the same problem.

All week I've been wrestling with the idea of calling in sick at work, but haven't. And now I'm wrestling with the idea of not practicing this Saturday, though I will be there. Just don't know about loading the jeep up.

Any advice on a stiff back??? I know K'urn has a problem with back pain, but I think its disc's or something like that. Mine is just the muscles.

If the heat worked to relax your muscles, they make heat patches, apply to the area and let it do its job and do light stretching with the patch on to keep the heat on the pain. Should let you loosen the muscles a bit. Though take it easy and keep the waist bending to a minimum.

The best stretches for me have been to lay on my back on a flat surface and pull my knees to my chest. Hold it for 30 seconds or so then switch knees. I do this 3 or 4 times whenever I remember and it usually helps to loosen me up.

I hurt my back on monday and will not be practicing this saturday.

Try icing it. When mine goes I have to ice it to reduce the inflammation, and stay on the Advil.
